At More House, we aim to introduce girls to the wider world of learning through our Gifted and Talented programme - More's Household. We employ different strategies including outside speakers, theatre visits and book clubs. We want to enhance their independent learning and give them the ability to know and discuss the current issues within the academic world.
We hold a book club for each key stage. Years 7-9, for example have read Jane Austen’s ‘Northanger Abbey’, while years 10-11 read John Buchan’s ‘The Thirty-Nine Steps’ followed up with a trip to the theatre to see it performed. Recently, our sixth form members have focused on reading from a wide variety of literature, in order to expand their interests.
Other events include a backstage tour at the National Theatre and the hosting of guest speakers: this years’ topics range from Einstein and Eddington, the legal system through the eyes of a judge and art through the experience of an independent Production Designer.
