Classical Civilisation
Classical Civilisation is the study of the literature,
drama and art of the ancient world using no Latin
or Greek. It is therefore available to all girls,
regardless of whether or not they have taken a classical
subject at GCSE. It has proved to be a very popular
and successful choice for girls wishing to broaden
their curriculum at A level.
Activities and Visits
Londinium was the centre of Roman Britain and has
a wealth of resources to bring to life the teaching
of Classics. We organise regular visits to museums,
lectures and Greek plays, both in London and further
afield. Years 8, 9, 10 and 11 have enjoyed trips to
the Roman Baths, the Roman palace at Fishbourne, Hadrian's
wall in Northumberland and St. Albans. We organise
a trip to Greece for the Sixth Form.
