HISTORY OF ART

History of Art A Level at More House is a new and exciting option for VIthForm students. It engages with all aspects of the visual culture enabling students to debate issues in contemporary art as well as providing a critical survey of European painting, sculpture and architecture in the AS year (LVIth) and more specialised topics in the UVIth. In the A2 year students undertake a substantial piece of research on a topic of their own choice.

History of Art is an academic subject that develops both visual and literary ability and introduces students to significant aspects of European art and culture in a stimulating and enjoyable fashion.

In the past, a yearly trip has been made to Italy, either Florence or Venice, and this has been open to any member of the Sixth Form. Future trips will be chosen to enhance the new syllabus for the subject.

More House is ideally situated in the centre of London with easy access to many of the world's finest galleries and museums, where much of our teaching takes place. Trips are also made to places outside London.

History of Art A level is an ideal foundation for any Humanities subject at university and provides ideal preparation for careers in galleries, museums, auction houses, interior design, heritage and tourism industries, arts administration and marketing. Many former More House students have gone on to prestigious universities and eventual careers in the arts.
