The school has more than sixty computers
(approximately one computer to every four girls), which
are all networked so that all staff and students can
access their work from a variety of rooms in the building.
In addition there is a wireless system in the lower
part of the building, as well as a number of 'hot spots',
where school laptops can be used to link in to the school
network. The wireless network cannot be accessed by
computers outside the building.
A system is installed to protect the school
from unsuitable material on the internet - but at the
same time, girls are taught how to use the world-wide
web responsibly and safely.
Computers can enable and enhance learning.

So, It is seen as a tool rather than an end in itself
but a tool that all young people need to be fully
able to use to do a vast array of jobs: for research,
to perform calculations, to organise vast quantities
of data, to present work to others, as an aid to musical
composition, as a means of communication. So it is that
a girl in Year 7 might be expected to design a greetings
card, calculate the profits from a weeks sales
in a shop or find a map for a journey; her VIth form
colleague might be emailing her essays into school with
a properly footnoted bibliography or even using a computer
for her A level music composition exam!
