More
House has an outstanding, and well deserved, reputation
for music and music making. Music is something which
is woven into the fabric of life here. Our choir
has an international reputation and tours abroad
each year. It has sung in prestigious venues around
the world including Notre Dame in Paris, St Mark's
in Venice, as well as being the first all-girl choir
to sing Pontifical High Mass in St Peter's Basilica
in the Vatican in 1989. The School has four specialist
choirs in total, including one which also welcomes
members of the Parent Body as well as Old Girls,
Governors, Friends of More House, and members of
Staff. When our choirs sing together, as they do
for the annual Spring Concert, some two-thirds of
the School are involved.
Individual music tuition is available in a wide
range of instruments, taught by our large peripatetic
team, many of whom are part of the vibrant London
music world. Our instrumentalists play together
in our various ensembles and bands, as well as playing
with professional orchestras and ensembles. Music
forms part of the Core curriculum up to the end
of KS3, thereafter it becomes a very successful
and popular option for GCSE, AS and A2.
