At More House our curriculum structure makes it
possible for most girls to study the four AS Levels
of their choice in a small group environment. A
wide range of subjects is offered which takes in
Arts, Sciences, Languages, Creative and Practical
subjects. New subjects, such as Business Studies,
Economics, History of Art or Textiles, are added
at this point. In the Lower VIth most girls choose
four subjects which they will study for a year to
AS Level. Most then give up one subject at the end
of the Lower VIth year, and continue to full A Level
in the other three in their final year in the School.
The subjects presently offered at AS/A Level are:
Art, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Classical
Civilisation, Drama, Economics, English, French,
Geography, German, History, History of Art, Latin,
Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Music, Religious
Studies, Physical Education, Physics, Spanish, Textiles.
In addition members of the VIth Form take part in
a Personal, Social, Health Education programme which
includes a General Ethical, Religious and Citizenship
Course, Study Skills training and a range of outside
speakers. Your daughter will also be encouraged
to keep up her commitment to sport, both on an individual
and team basis. All of the above activities take
place within the framework of timetabled time.
There is a wide range of extra-curricular activities
which happen at lunchtime and after school and members
of the VIth Form are actively encouraged to take
part in these. There is also an 'active leadership'
programme for VIth Form which includes the mentoring
of younger pupils, organisation of the School's
charitable events, and helping run extra-curricular
activities.

There are computing sessions for all VIth
Formers. The course follows the European Computer
Driving Licence, a widely respected qualification
that, though skills based, does not ignore the wider
implications of computers and their use.
There are usually Physical Education sessions
for both Lower and Upper VIth. Their curriculum is
designed to allow the girls to play team games if
they wish, or to widen their sporting experience through
individual or small group participation. Members of
the VIth Form also have the opportunity to help coach
some of the School's teams in the main sports of netball,
hockey, tennis and rounders. Through the House system
they can also become involved in motivating and organising
the younger girls. There is a wide range of extra-curricular
activities which happen at lunchtime and after school
and members of the VIth Form are actively encouraged
to take part in these. There is also an 'active leadership'
programme for VIth Form which includes the mentoring
of younger pupils, organisation of the School's charitable
events, and helping with extra-curricular events.
While the business of A Level study and university
admissions continues, the VIth Form Religious Studies
Course allows our girls to stand back from immediate
concerns and think more deeply about the world in
which they live. The course is a series of individual
explorations from different starting points that may,
it is hoped, add up to a whole that will lead them
to consider their lives as a spiritual as well as
a material business. Within the course the aim is
always to encourage thought, discussion and growth.

The School is proud of its record in relation to
applications to Higher Education. Our Upper VIth Formers
usually secure a place at their first choice of institution
and attend some of the best universities in the country.
Advice on Higher Education choices is the overall
responsibility of the Head of VIth Form. Decisions
about career paths and applications will largely be
made by pupils and parents following discussions with
the VIth Form Academic Tutors, and the subject teachers.
Professional Careers advice is also available if needed
as well as consultation with the Headmaster and members
of his Senior Team.
There is a systematic programme towards application
which starts in the Lower VIth and runs throughout
the rest of the VIth Form. VIth Formers are encouraged
to seek advice, visit institutions, examine prospectuses
and other sources of information in order that they
may submit an application in the first term of the
Upper VIth.
Practice interviews are provided for those who require
them and special arrangements are also in place to
support applications to Oxford and Cambridge.
Much of the responsibility for preparing a successful
application is rightly put on the VIth Formers themselves,
although there is of course a full range of help and
guidance to support the girls, particularly in relation
to the completion of the range of application forms
they may find themselves facing.
