graduating in 1978 with an Upper Second Class
Honours. He followed this with a Postgraduate
Certificate of Education, again at King's, which
he passed with a Distinction. He also became
an Associate of King's College.
Robert's first post was as an Assistant History,

there, one of his History students won the Royal

Robert then moved to Sir William Perkins' School
for Girls, one of the foremost GSA schools in Surrey,
as Head of History. During this period he was nominated
for a Radio 4 Teaching Award by pupils and parents.
He continued his commitment to girls' hockey, but
also became instrumental in setting up the Duke of
Edinburgh's Award Scheme at the school. This involved
him passing his Mountain Walking Leader Summer Course,
and leading expeditions up to Gold Level.
Robert's next move was to the post of Deputy Head
at Wentworth College, a GSA boarding and day school
in Dorset. Here he helped a group of pupils to win
a Barclays New Futures Award to set up a community
service project to work with a special school local
to Wentworth. He also set up a Neighbourhood Engineer
Scheme, a Creative Arts Programme and was amongst
the first Deputies to be trained as Inspectors by
the Independent Schools Inspectorate as well as joining
the first cohort undertaking the National Professional
Qualification for Headteachers.
In 1998 Robert was the founding Headmaster of The
Moat School, in Fulham. This specialist school for
dyslexics was established under his leadership and
is now recognised as a centre of excellence in this
field of education. In 2004 his school won the Times
Educational Supplement's Newsday competition. He also
completed his MBA (Leicester) and a Postgraduate Certificate
in Literacy and Dyslexia (York). In January 2007 he
joined More House.
Robert is married to Terry. They have one daughter,
