More House is fortunate enough to have a very active
and effective Parents' Association. All parents at More
House belong to the Parents' Association, but its activities
and events are planned by the Organising Committee,
led by the present Chair, Veronica Wates. The role of
the Parents' Association is three-fold:
- To provide social events for parents and girls
- To raise money for the School
- To provide additional information about the School
and about general educational matters to present and
prospective parents. The Association provides invaluable
support for the School.
Each year the Parents' Association organises a series
of events for parents, including talks on topics which
range from drug and alcohol abuse through to surviving
the teen-age years intact, as well as a Reception for
New Parents, quiz nights and the farewell party for
the UVIth leavers. On alternate years they help the
girls run a charity Christmas Fayre.
The Parents' Association raises substantial sums of
money for the School. Recent projects which they have
supported have included: the redecoration of the VIth
Form Common Rooms; the flooring and sound systems for
the new Drama and Dance Studio; improvements in the
ICT facilities.
The Organising Committee meets on average once or twice
a term and is always on the look out for new members!
The Chair can be contacted via the School Office.
