Music Tour Fundraiser
What better way to kickstar the week than a wonderful evening spent at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel for the annual music tour fundraiser! The More House Combined Choirs really looked the part in their new performance dresses and treated us to three pieces, which they will be performing in Italy. They set off for Tuscany at the end of next week. A full gallery of images from the event can be found here.
A big thank you to everyone who supported us in so many different ways, ensuring the event was such a success. We raised £2,740 at the auction and an additional £700 on raffle tickets!
We were also treated to a performance by Piran Legg, who also talked to us about his musical journey – it all started with his experience singing in a school choir. Piran is a bass – baritone from Kent. He studied history at Kent University before embarking on a Master’s course in opera at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he also received his Artists’ Diploma in 2016. Piran has performed extensively in opera and concerts around the UK and abroad, taking on roles such as Schaunard in La Boheme at Cadogan Hall, Antonio in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Escamllio in Bizet’s Carmen. He also enjoys contemporary projects and has taken part in cutting edge new works at festival around London and the UK. He recorded an album of new songs written on the theme “Songs of the Big Smoke”, with Song in the City. He has also played the roles of Crow and Erik Satie in worshOPERA’s acclaimed productions of Boys of Paradise and Seven Velvet Suits respectively. To think some of our pupils could embark on their own musical journeys, as successful as Piran's, because of their starter experiences in the More House choirs!
