GCSE Music Trip

On Tuesday our GCSE musicians attended a lunchtime concert by the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall.  The programme was varied and included works by Baroque masters and 20th century innovators, showcasing the various ways in which composers have used orchestras and combinations of instruments over time. This included soloists, group of soloists and minimalism in two parts, all the way up to a large symphonic ensemble. Alongside musicians on stage presenter Rachel Leach provided detailed musical analysis.  For some of our pupils it was an opportunity for early exam revision and for others it opened a window to a new way of listening and appreciating music. The students showed renewed passion for the music they have been studying in their lessons.
