Sue Shale is a Partner at Farrer & Co and the firm's Chief Financial Officer. She works with the Management Board and other Partners on strategic and operational matters, developing and implementing the firm's financial strategy and monitoring financial management activities. She acts as Partnership Secretary, supervising the administration of the LLP and chairs the firm's Risk Management Committee. She also oversees the administration of the Farrer & Co Charitable Trust. Within the legal sector generally, she is Treasurer of the Legal Finance Forum, a national organisation, and sits on the Committee of the London-based Solicitors' Financial Management Group.
Sue Shale was educated at Notre Dame High School, Sheffield (a girls' Catholic day school) before reading French and Russian at the University of Birmingham and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG London. She spent 10 years abroad with her husband and three children, working at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Libreville, Gabon and in Moscow and at Shell in Prague. She became very active in the life of her children's school, the Lycée Français de Prague, and served as governor with specific responsibility for finance in the period during which they were financing and building a new school in the city.
She is a member of Barts Choir, the largest amateur choir in London, and also enjoys singing with the More House Singers. Her youngest child was a pupil at More House from 2004 to 2009.
In March 2014 she was appointed to the Board of Governors of Dulwich College Preparatory School Trust, which oversees the operation of Preparatory Schools at Dulwich, London and Cranbrook, Kent.
Sue Shale was appointed to the Board of Governors of More House School in the autumn 2005 and was elected Vice-Chairman in February 2008.
