During the Spring Term, the Year 10 Art GCSE girls have been studying African American textile artist Bisa Butler. They have researched the women of Gee’s Bend Alabama and the quilts made in the former slave community that directly influence the technique and style used in Butler’s work. The appliqued portraits are the girl’s personal responses to this task.
