Once again we welcomed 10 eggs from Living Eggs this Spring Term and soon enough we had little fluffy chicks living down in the Science department.

All 10 chicks successfully  hatched with an equal number of boys to girls (5 bright yellow boys and 5 darker brown girls) and by end of the first week they were ready for some cuddles from our pupils. The pupils and staff enjoy holding them and interacting with them, observing their behaviour and watching their progress. We can easily see the changes in their growth over a few short days!

At the end of their two weeks at More House they all went off to the adoptive homes to live out the rest of their lives. The chicks have provided a wonderful example of growth in Biology for Science Week and they have put a smile on the face of everyone who came in to see them. It was just what we needed at this potentially stressful time of year.

“It was really fun to see the chicks grow and hold them. I found that they were really helpful in the stress of APs, I love them! I also really enjoyed looking at them, learning new things about them and seeing the world through their eyes. I am already looking forward to the school getting new eggs next Spring so I can chill with the chicks again”.
