More House 219 V2

Raya left More House in 2021 after studying Music, Chemistry and History at A-level and she then went on to read Music at the University of Birmingham. Raya’s musical talent was discovered at an early age at More House when she received a musical scholarship with her instrument being violin.  Throughout her time as a Music scholar she feels that More House really supported her in developing not only her technique but also her musical identity which gave her the confidence to join both her University String and Symphony Orchestras at Birmingham University and, within a few weeks, being in front desk positions, allowing her to stretch herself and grow as a performer.  Whilst at More House she was also voted in as one of our Deputy Head Girls for her year group and regularly spoke with eloquence and performed at our open events to the delight of our prospective parents.

Her first full concert was held just before Christmas 2021 in the magnificent Elgar Concert Hall in Birmingham, where they performed a compilation of Tchaikovsky’s Ballet Suites: The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake, as well as Sibelius’ Finlandia. The String Orchestra also performed Serenade for Strings in E flat major by Josef Suk.  The concert was a sell out and the feedback from the public has been overwhelming.

More House is delighted to feature such a young and talented More House alumni and we look forward to seeing her flourish.

More House really supported me in developing not only my technique but also my own musical identity.
