Ellie left More House in 2011 after doing A levels in English, History and Art and was always interested in media and special effects. She decided not to go to university but to follow her passion and gain more hands-on experience and she embarked on a career in film. Initially she found work as a runner and did this in conjunction with studying at ‘Escape Studios’ where she learnt the basics in 3D visual effects.
Ellie is now a 3D Generalist and uses her range of skills in 3D modelling, texturing, animation, lighting, layout and rendering. She has not only worked in TV and film but on other interesting projects such as creating a 3D environment for a motion ride at Universal Studios in Orlando and architectural visualisation to show clients what the buildings will look like when completed.
She has worked at the Warner Bros. Studios on ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’, and ‘Fast and Furious 9’. She created early, rough visual effects, so the director could visualise the end result, and adjusted filming on set accordingly. Ellie has to ensure she keeps up with a multitude of software packages in her work as a Generalist, as the technology is always improving and evolving as CGI becomes more advanced and realistic.
Ellie has worked at Moving Picture Company (MPC) as a Senior Visual Effects Artist where she ran her own team. The company are a Bafta and Academy Award winning group responsible for effects on some blockbuster films such as Cruella, Guardians of the Galaxy, X Men Days of Future Past, Life of Pi and Harry Potter; The Deathly Hallows. She is currently at a company called Double Negative where she is a Technical Director. She has also set up a group called ‘Women in VFX’ which aims to support women in this industry which is still very male dominated. Here is her show reel for you to watch: https://vimeo.com/551909690
